Color Crush: Grapefruit

Inspiration pops up everywhere for me. Lately it's been in grapefruit. Since my crush began, I've been eating grapefruit with honey for breakfast, choosing blouses in those incredible hues, and baking grapefruit olive oil cake until it is perfected! The colors on this one fruit are so amazing and I can't get enough. Creamy yellows, peaches and pinks, red to burnt oranges... What flowers can I use to create this color palette? Sweet spring ranunculus comes to mind, fabulous dahlia, garden roses, local zinnias... It's endless!

Floral Symposium Continued...

I got an email today from Sarah and Nicolette with more photos from the class I was a part of a few weeks ago. The class went a little something like this... drinking tea from an adorable jadeite tea set, while chatting the floral industry with 9 other designers from all over the US and beyond, to making etherial head crowns and re-inventing the wrist corsage, yes it can be done!, to endlessly obsessing over the most amazing blooms that cover your creations, and ending with tons of new inspiration I can't wait to show you. Here are a few more photos I have to share-

Yours truly trying on a finished head crown.

Pink and Peach

This might be my favorite time of year for flowers. There I said it. So many sweet little flowers come into season making this time of year feel so romantic. Ranunculus is looking so good right now. Big, petally buds of perfection. Not to mention, the colors are unbeatable. When they are looking this good, I get really obsessive about making sure those extra special ones are placed in an arrangement in just the right spots and the arrangement is worked around those. You could say they are my little spring muse flower.

Little Wings

I got home today to find this little bird on my doorstep, its feathers all puffed up and shivering. It looked like it had flown into our glass door and looked stunned. I picked it up and brought it inside. It fell asleep in my hands for about 10 minutes. Then I tucked the little bird into a towel to keep it warm while I did some work on the computer. It finally came to and flew to a nearby tree from our deck. That made my day. Oh and I had to throw in a picture of angel face, so he wouldn't be too jealous.

To Market

So many pretty spring flowers at the market right now...
